True prophetic worship is when the music/worship of heaven invades our worship of Him!

Our goal in EVERY worship setting/time is to truly ‘touch’ heaven’s music/worship!

But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship HimGod [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.

John 4:23-24

What does it mean to worship God ‘In spirit”??

Example of 2 men who were in the spirit

John (Revelatoin 1:10 was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,;Rev 4:2And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and [one] sat on the throne.)

Ezekiel 37I was carried away in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which [was] full of bones,.

Jesus said ‘thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. What are they doing in heaven???

Then talk about Asaph, David, examine Psalms, and discuss prophetic musicans

Discuss prophetic worship as when heavens worship invades OUR worship, whether that is dance, song, instrument, banner/flag waving, or hand movements, hearing//seeing something in the spirit and then doing that

Talk about the woman who broke alabaster container oil Luke 7:37

1.     Talk about how out of our brokenness and realization of sin, can the most anointed worship flow !

  1. True prophetic worship costs us everything, our reputation, our dignity, sometimes the most precious things we own! Yet Mary here had a revelation, she was anointing Jesus for burial! As we spend time with Him in intimacy we get true revelation of Him and His character, and then, and only then can true prophetic worship flow! And so exalt him, and give others (who may be watching, listening) a revelation of Him also!

Alabaster…white (purity) Alabaster is readily

water soluble, while marble is not. Alabaster is

softer than marble, however it can be polished to

a high, translucent gloss making its surface look

deceptively hard and glass-like. This is an

attractive property to artists and artisans, who

have fashioned delicate carvings and thin-walled,

translucent objects such as vases, lamps, and

lantern shades from the easily worked material.

However, alabaster is extremely brittle and is

easily bruised. It can be scratched with a

fingernail.. It has to be protected for its very susceptible to deterioration.

It was water soulable…we are made to soak him up yet in all this meant to be poured out

And the flask would have absorbed the fragrance, spikenard

Spikenard is very expenseive. It was grown in high mtns,HIGH altititues (it   a rOOT) (high mtns…sos) Lot of trouble to import, was put in alabaster boxes, and carried ALL OVER THE WORLD

Spikenard has relaxing properties, mary MINISTERED to Jesus…can u imagine??

She KNEW His heart, His troubled anxious heart, she was anointing Him for burial. Prophetic worshippers must be intimate with HIM…and KNOW His heart!@

Genesis 1:2…the Spirit of God moved over surface of waters…means to flutter, to brood (as mother bird) to CHERISH, to grow soft, to flutter, to cherish, to tremble,  RACHAPH…Hebrew word

Dancers, flag wavers etc can do this part!

Hebrews 2:12…Jesus is in our midst when we are worshipping, worshipping the Father WITH US!!!

"I will declare Your name to My brethren;

In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You."

When we are worshipping, scripture says HE is in our midst worshipping the FATHER in our midst! It could be thru a dancer, musician, singer, or just a person in corner rejoicing wildly!

What is purpose of prophetic worship?

1.     to TRULY glorify Him

  1. to relase the Kingdom of God on earth! (healings, salvations, miracles, etc)
  2. to give others revelation of Jesus in their midst

Ezekiel 37:1The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which [was] full of bones,.

Enoch…was he a worshipper that delighted God so much he just ‘took

him’?What an honor not to have to taste death!

2. Even in the OT God’s will was for the prophetic to flow freely in worship

  1. God’s will for the prophetic to flow in worship is revealed in the ingredients of holy

     Incense oil of the temple:

. Exodus 30:34

And the LORD said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; [these] sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like [weight]: (equal part)

\

 STACTE, (STAK-TEE) which means ‘to ooze, to distill gradually, to fall in drops, to speak by inspiration, to prophesy” This oil was obtained by pricking a tree; the oil oozes forth spontaneously. Exodus 30:34It is also known as myrrh! It symbolizes suffering, and was used to prepare bodies for buria.

Onycha: (ON-ee-cha) Peeling off, by concussion of sound. Comes from root word to ROAR!

Onycha is a powerful antiseptic ( also called stryax benzoin) facilitates rapid healing! Hospitals used to use it to kill germs and is powerful aid in healing open wounds!

galbanum; resin from gum tree, used also for medicninal purposes, reduces imflamation. Comes from root word which means THE BEST OF LAND, FAT. This is also a powerful antiseptic, and when combine with frankincense, its electrical frequency increases dramatically..it supports and aids the body’s natural defenses! Botanists have written that galbanum’s odor is strongly balsamic, pungent and disagreeable when burned. There is an interesting suggestion in the Jewish Talmud as to why this powerful, less-than-fragrant resin was used in the holy incense: “Every communal fast that does not include sinners of Israel is not a fast.” This has been linked to the fact that incense included spices or perfumes with lovely fragrances, but was not nthrn Galbanum is used for its antiseptic.

*DISCUSS

 Sin is burned off during worship! The enemies flee (germs)

Frankincense: White…resin, holiness? It is grown in high, mtn areas where the terrain is difficult and desert, parched area. It is a low growing tree. It is harvested by slicing the tree open with cuts, and the droplets ooze out are called tears. The resin dries out and is crushed into a powder. Periodically these frankincense trees have to be ‘cut’ again for a fresh flow of frankincense to flow out of! The oil of this herb is great for helping pain/inflammation of joints/and helps blood flow!

Applicatons: When we worship, the fragrance of our worship is POWERFUL and releases healings, and the roar of our Lion! Often, the HS pricks our spirits, and when the tears flow freely, it is a good sign, He is just obtaining more ‘oil’ to keep our lamp burning(possible comparison to parable of the 10 virgins?)

How ‘prophetic worship’ manifests in the body of Christ:

              Lord your God in your midst,

          The Mighty One, will save;

          He will rejoice over you with gladness,

          He will quiet you with His love,

         He will rejoice over you with singing."

The Lord your God in the MIDST of you

1.     ‘Midst’ means the ‘inward part, the seat of thought/emotion’ (keh'-reb) (the spirit within us)

2.     OR midst, as in middle of His people

1.     God singing to His Bride through the prophetic song. Can be personal or cooperate prophecy or exhortation. Sometimes this can also be the ‘song of the bride.’ (Jeremiah 33:11) Also referred to in scripture as the ‘song of the Lord.’

The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride,

a.     We have a SINGING God.

Zephaniah 3:17

           Lord your God in your midst,

          The Mighty One, will save;

          He will rejoice over you with gladness,

          He will quiet you with His love,

         He will rejoice over you with singing."

The Lord your God in the MIDST of you

b.    Three different types of ‘prophetic’ worship here: GOD worshipping, rejoicing in our midst!

1.     He will SAVE (means to give victories,to save in battle,to deliver) Songs of deliverance, battle cries of victories (yaw-shah')

2.     REJOICE (means to LEAP/SPRING UP) (soos) Can apply to dancers, flag bearers, etc

3.   REST (or quiet) (khaw-rash')Means to ‘engrave, to plough (His love songs/lullabies quiet our hearts and engrave His word(s) on our hearts)

 uth

(He will rejoice/joy over you with….joy there means to go in a circle, spin or possible orbit)..solar system

3.     SINGING means a  LOUD, RINGING cry of joy or supplication

*Several different words are used in this passage for joy/rejoice, they are all JOY in fullest sense, including ‘party/banquet’ type rejoicing, banquets, leaping, dancing type of words (like at a Jewish wedding celebration!)

c.     At your right hand are pleasures (means beauty, sweet singing/music )

In Hebrew)Psalm 16:11

*We just have to tap into that singing Spirit of God (or rejoicing, or comforting, or rejoicing one in our MIDST!

OR Jesus worshipping the Father in our midst (as we looked at last week)

*We need to realize that truly our spirits are seated NEXT to Him in heavenly places, and listen/look for that beauty, and the sweet music/singing…then FLOW in it

Sometimes the Holy Spirit in us cries out as the ‘bride’ worshipping her Bridegroom. A prophetic unction rises up in us.

3.     Our spirits worshipping on a higher level or anointing; and it brings a supernatural…BEAUTY REALM!

Manifestation of power, such as healing/deliverance, miracles, victories in spiritual warfare. Also brings spirit of ‘prophesy’ for seers, prophets.

a.      David/Saul  I Samuel 16:23 “cunning/skillful means ‘discerning

14 But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and a distressing spirit from the Lord troubled him. 15 And Saul's servants said to him, "Surely, a distressing spirit from God is troubling you. 16 Let our master now command your servants, who are before you, to seek out a man who is a skillful player on the harp. And it shall be that he will play it with his hand when the distressing spirit from God is upon you, and you shall be well."

17 So Saul said to his servants, "Provide me now a man who can play well, and bring him to me."

18 Then one of the servants answered and said, "Look, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a mighty man of valor, a man of war, prudent in speech, and a handsome person; and the Lord is with him."

19 Therefore Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, "Send me your son David, who is with the sheep." 20 And Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a skin of wine, and a young goat, and sent them by his son David to Saul. 21 So David came to Saul and stood before him. And he loved him greatly, and he became his armorbearer. 22 Then Saul sent to Jesse, saying, "Please let David stand before me, for he has found favor in my sight." 23 And so it was, whenever the spirit from God was upon Saul, that David would take a harp and play it with his handt

SESSION 4: HOW PROPHETIC WORSHIP MANIFESTS ITSELF

(CONTINUED)

b.    Singers went before the army 2 Chronicles  20

20It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites,* came to battle against Jehoshaphat. 2 Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, "A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from *Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar" (which is En Gedi). 3 And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4 So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.

5 Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, 6 and said: "O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? 7 Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? 8 And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying, 9 'If disaster comes upon us--sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine--we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.' 10 And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir--whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them-- 11 here they are, rewarding us by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit. 12 O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You."

13 Now all Judah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children, stood before the Lord.

14 Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. 15 And he said, "Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: 'Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's. 16 Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!' Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you."

18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. 19 Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the childreYn of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high.

20 So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, "Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper." 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise(in) the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

Read in different translations! TRANSLATIORS SEEM TO BE MYSTIFIED BY THIS TRANSLATION…WORDING VARIES A LOT

Praise, halal…shine, boast, be clamorously foolish, to FLASH LIGHT..implies loud beautiful praise, celebration

Beauty here is interesting; it means glory, or holy adornment, or ornaments..some versions say holy attire (ask for different translations)  but it also means

GLORY OF THE KING!! HIS BEAUTY

Psalm 27…one thing I have desired..to behold (to gaze upon) the BEAUTY of the Lord

Psalm 90:17 Let the beauty of the lord be upon us, and establish the work of our hands!

We are clothed with Jesus righteousness, and holiness, but also when we enter into prophetic worship, HIS BEAUTY, manifest presence comes upon us, and the enemy flees! Its like as we abandon ourselves in worship, our garments begin to sparkle and gleam in radiance!

Holiness means ‘separateness’. (thus the homework assignment for this week. Sometimes we must separate ourselves, literally, from our surroundings, Jesus went away by Himself from even the disciples, to a lonely place to be with His Father.

"Praise the Lord,

For His mercy endures forever."*

22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.

Gideon appoints trumpet players. (Judges 7) Then Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) and all the people who were with him rose early and encamped beside the well of Harod, so that the camp of the Midianites was on the north side of them by the hill of Moreh in the valley.

2 And the Lord said to Gideon, "The people who are with you are too many for Me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel claim glory for itself against Me, saying, 'My own hand has saved me.' 3 Now therefore, proclaim in the hearing of the people, saying, 'Whoever is fearful and afraid, let him turn and depart at once from Mount Gilead.'" And twenty-two thousand of the people returned, and ten thousand remained.

4 But the Lord said to Gideon, "The people are still too many; bring them down to the water, and I will test them for you there. Then it will be, that of whom I say to you, 'This one shall go with you,' the same shall go with you; and of whomever I say to you, 'This one shall not go with you,' the same shall not go." 5 So he brought the people down to the water. And the Lord said to Gideon, "Everyone who laps from the water with his tongue, as a dog laps, you shall set apart by himself; likewise everyone who gets down on his knees to drink." 6 And the number of those who lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, was three hundred men; but all the rest of the people got down on their knees to drink water. 7 Then the Lord said to Gideon, "By the three hundred men who lapped I will save you, and deliver the Midianites into your hand. Let all the other people go, every man to his place." 8 So the people took provisions and their trumpets in their hands. And he sent away all the rest of Israel, every man to his tent, and retained those three hundred men. Now the camp of Midian was below him in the valley.

9 It happened on the same night that the Lord said to him, "Arise, go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand. 10 But if you are afraid to go down, go down to the camp with Purah your servant, 11 and you shall hear what they say; and afterward your hands shall be strengthened to go down against the camp." Then he went down with Purah his servant to the outpost of the armed men who were in the camp. 12 Now the Midianites and Amalekites, all the people of the East, were lying in the valley as numerous as locusts; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the seashore in multitude.

13 And when Gideon had come, there was a man telling a dream to his companion. He said, "I have had a dream: To my surprise, a loaf of barley bread tumbled into the camp of Midian; it came to a tent and struck it so that it fell and overturned, and the tent collapsed."

14 Then his companion answered and said, "This is nothing else but the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel! Into his hand God has delivered Midian and the whole camp."

15 And so it was, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream and its interpretation, that he worshiped. He returned to the camp of Israel, and said, "Arise, for the Lord has delivered the camp of Midian into your hand." 16 Then he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet into every man's hand, with empty pitchers, and torches inside the pitchers. 17 And he said to them, "Look at me and do likewise; watch, and when I come to the edge of the camp you shall do as I do: 18 When I blow the trumpet, I and all who are with me, then you also blow the trumpets on every side of the whole camp, and say, 'The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!'"

19 So Gideon and the hundred men who were with him came to the outpost of the camp at the beginning of the middle watch, just as they had posted the watch; and they blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers that were in their hands. 20 Then the three companies blew the trumpets and broke the pitchers--they held the torches in their left hands and the trumpets in their right hands for blowing--and they cried, "The sword of the Lord and of Gideon!" 21 And every man stood in his place all around the camp; and the whole army ran and cried out and fled. 22 When the three hundred blew the trumpets, the Lord set every man's sword against his companion throughout the whole camp; and the army fled to *Beth Acacia, toward Zererah, as far as the border of Abel Meholah, by Tabbath.

c.      Saul and minstrel/company or prophets/musicians I Samuel 10:5-6

(changed/turned into other man, means “to be overthrown/transformed” , speaks of a radical transformation, also means to be reversed,to be overturned)

After that you shall come to the hill of God where the Philistine garrison is. And it will happen, when you have come there to the city, that you will meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place with a stringed instrument, a tambourine, a flute, and a harp before them; and they will be prophesying. 6 Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man.

d.      Elisha asked for harpist before he prophesied 2 Kings 3:15-16

f.   When musicians/singers were as ONEHis glory comes

 2 Chronicles 5:13-1411 And it came to pass when the priests came out of the Most Holy Place (for all the priests who were present had sanctified themselves, without keeping to their divisions), 12 and the Levites who were the singers, all those of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, stood at the east end of the altar, clothed in white linen, having cymbals, stringed instruments and harps, and with them one hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets-- 13 indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying:

"For He is good,

For His mercy endures forever,"*

that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud, 14 so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the Lord filled the house of God.

 Praise here means HALAL…to SHINE, to flash LIGHT!

     (Also to act like a madman, foolish)

  1. A singer or musician (or group) prophesying vocally or on their instrument (note; usually the instrumentalist /singer are like a ‘duet’. The instrumentalist may ‘receive’ the melody of the song, the singer gets the words. OR see #4: the instrumentalist may ‘prophesy’ the mood or emotion of the Holy Spirit.

ROMANS 8:26…Spirit groans, makes intercession (groans, means sigh, breaths)

Song of the Lord: (Shiyrah)

 2 Chronicles 29:27 Then Hezekiah gave the order to offer the burnt offering on the altar. When the burnt offering began, the song to the LORD also began with the trumpets, {accompanied} by the instruments of David  ( 2 Chronicles 7:6..David made instruments; KJV says GODS instruments, so God must have obviously commanded him to make)

Song here means TRAVELING MINSTREL, like a traveler on a journey

Note the Song of the Lord STARTED with trumpets, then instruments of David (which he made) THEN singers

  1. Songs/melodies of prophetic intercession Romans tsgroanings also means ‘sighs’ as ‘breath’

………………………………………..February 9……………………

  1. Special music/songs of ‘holy of holies/secret places’. Songs of deliverance

The Lord will command His lovingkindness in the daytime, And in the night His song shall be with me-- A prayer to the God of my life. (42:8)

Thou [art] my hiding place; thou wilt preserve me from trouble; thou wilt compass me about with songs of deliverance. (32:7)

. THE HEAVENS ARE SINGING, PROCLAIMING THE GLORY   OF GOD!

a.     Psalm 19:5 their LINE(also sound)  has gone out through all of the earth”

The heavens declare the glory of God;

And the firmament shows His handiwork.

2 Day unto day utters speech,

And night unto night reveals knowledge.

3 There is no speech nor language

Where their voice is not heard.

4 Their *line has gone out through all the earth,

And their words to the end of the world.

b.      Romans 10:18 paraphrases it as LINE

   One of the definitions here means ‘string of a harp, as the SOUND”. The Jewish Bible     translates this word ‘line’ as a musical line/melody/’

c.       Job: 38:7 There was music during creation!

the morning stars sang together,

And all the sons of God shouted for joy?

“Morning stars’…could be angels, or real stars, or BOTH!

Talk about pitches coming from astromonical bodies, sun, starts,

Also talk about light./sound spectrum

1. Psalms 16:11 “You will make known to me the path of life. At your right hand are PLEASURES forever.”

a.       Pleasures here means music, sweet singing. Jesus is seated at the right hand of the    Father.

b.       Ephesians 1:20,

       which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at     His right hand in the heavenly places, 21

Colossians 3:1 If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

 b. Touching this divine music helps us stay on path of LIFE.

  2 *The most common Hebrew word used for praise, Halal, means to SHINE!

PROPHETIC MUSICIANS/SINGERS

1.     Jubal, first musician mentioned in Bible. (Genesis 4:20,21) His name means flowing stream)

He was father all who handle the harp and organ (or pipe, reed)

  1. David’s ministry started in private, but first act after he was anointed king

      was warfare thru worship! Psalms 18: 34: He trains my hands for war

    1. David was prophetic psalmist, even wrote musical comments, selahs

Could these selahs been vehicle into the ‘seeing’ realm?

    1. David danced prophetically before the ark in linen ephod.  (Only Levites, priests wore ephods. David was had a vision of His priestly ministry here as a worshipper, also possibly prophetically portraying JESUS)

Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.

…………………………..2/16-----------------------

1 Chronicles 25:1…who should ‘prophesy with cymbals, harps, psalteries’

Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service some of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals

  1. These men were appointed by not only David but ‘captains of hosts…commanders of army!’ appointed them also! In other words, they were looking for  Prophetic WARRIORS!
  2.

The strongest prophets were very intimate, open and real with God!

………………………………………………………………….

  1. Asaph (seer) 2 Chronicles 29:30

Psalmist, wrote Psalms 50, 73-80; 81-83

Prophesied, sang with cymbals I Chronicles 15/16,

He had 128 singing children. Ezra 2:41

His Psalms have DISTNICTIVE flavor!

( Study the positioning of selahs and what comes afterwards)

  2. The prophetic singers/musicians all lived together in villages.

    a. Nehemiah 12:29 The singers all came from village of the Netophathites, which   means to ooze, to fall in drops, to speak by inspiration. (to prophesy)

The Hebrew word, nabah, means to bubble up

Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with gladness, both with thanksgivings and singing, with cymbals and stringed instruments and harps. 28 And the sons of the singers gathered together from the countryside around Jerusalem, from the villages of the Netophathites, 29 from the house of Gilgal, and from the fields of Geba and Azmaveth; for the singers had built themselves villages all around Jerusalem. 30 Then the priests and Levites purified themselves, and purified the people, the gates, and the wall.

Study the progression here in this psalm, gates, courts, inner courts, holy of holiess

Of worship ((psalm 100) we often go thru these stages before we get to the prophetic realm of worship..note Asaph was minstreling Himself here in this psalm, the prophetic comes after the other ‘gates’ . Often we quit too early, before we get to the ininer most chamber, the holy of holies, where the prophetic is!

PSALM 77:The Consoling Memory of God's Redemptive Works

To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of Asaph.

I cried out to God with my voice--

To God with my voice;

And He gave ear to me.

2 In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord;

My hand was stretched out in the night without ceasing;

My soul refused to be comforted.

3 I remembered God, and was troubled;

I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. (shows his honesty with  God)

Selah

(note the selah builds up his soul, edifies himself, expresses his thankfulness))

4 You hold my eyelids open;

I am so troubled that I cannot speak.

5 I have considered the days of old,

The years of ancient times.

6 I call to remembrance my song in the night;

I meditate within my heart,

And my spirit makes diligent search. (shows his warrior spirit and determination)

7 Will the Lord cast off forever?

And will He be favorable no more?

8 Has His mercy ceased forever?

Has His promise failed forevermore?

9 Has God forgotten to be gracious?

Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies?

(here the selah builds up his faith)

(Selah

10 And I said, "This is my anguish;

But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High."

11 I will remember the works of the Lord;

Surely I will remember Your wonders of old.

12 I will also meditate on all Your work,

And talk of Your deeds.

13 Your way, O God, is in the sanctuary;

Who is so great a God as our God?

14 You are the God who does wonders;

You have declared Your strength among the peoples.

15 You have with Your arm redeemed Your people,

The sons of Jacob and Joseph.

Selah

16 The waters saw You, O God;

The waters saw You, they were afraid;

The depths also trembled.

17 The clouds poured out water;

The skies sent out a sound;

Your arrows also flashed about.

18 The voice of Your thunder was in the whirlwind;

The lightnings lit up the world;

The earth trembled and shook.

19 Your way was in the sea,

Your path in the great waters,

And Your footsteps were not known.

20 You led Your people like a flock

By the hand of Moses and Aaron.
